About Us
Mission Statement:
The objectives and purposes of the AAA Band are:
  1. to establish a musical organization which will provide an opportunity for people to develop
     and improve their musical capabilities;
  2. to provide opportunities for people to perform musical compositions as a group before
     audiences;
  3. to provide opportunities for people to learn more about music appreciation;
  4. to sponsor or participate in special events which develop and utilize the musical talents of the
     participants in the musical organization;
  5. to provide to participants in the music organization awards that will be based on their
     musical achievements and overall enhancement of the purpose of the organization;
  6. to provide to participants in the music organization scholarships that will be based on their
     musical achievements and overall enhancement of the purposes of the organization.  The
     scholarships must be used for educational purposes.
  7. to directly engage in and to provide facilities for others to engage in the promotion of the
     arts, generally.


Non-Profit, Tax-Exempt Organization:
The AAA Home-School Band is a 501©(3) organization.  It is organized for educational purposes.


Director:
Mrs. Barb Rollins has a Master’s Degree in Instrumental Music from the University of Illinois.  She has taught band and private lessons for over 35 years.  She and her husband, Roger, are co-founders of the Aiken Community Band.  She was the director of that organization for 7 years. They are also the co-founders of the AAA Home-school band.  It was founded in 1999, and Mrs. Rollins has been its only director.


Band Members:
1. The AAA Band is open to 5th graders and older.  (Some younger students are accepted). 
    Membership is open to students who are home-schooled, or students who attend private
    schools that have no band program.  Adults are welcome.   
2. No previous experience is necessary.  Group lessons are held once a week for one hour.
    Students attending group lessons are expected to attend a one hour band rehearsal
    appropriate to their level.
3. Instruments taught:  Flute, oboe, bassoon, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet, French Horn,  
    trombone, baritone, tuba, percussion.

Lessons are taught at the home of Dr. and Mrs. Roger Rollins in Aiken, SC.
